The (un)Safety Browser: Latest IM Hijack

Paperghost over at SpywareGuide Blog (The Greynets Blog) has the lowdown on this (un)Safety Browser that is the latest IM Worm HiJack. And of course, this one hits, the IM client that WAS the safest of the standard ones … at least before this came along. I am sure Yahoo! Instant Messenger will be right up there in danger rating as AIM (AOL’s Instant Messenger) and MSNMessenger now. 😦

At least you won’t be hit with the gawd awful music if you have SP2, but who knows what else you might get regardless of the Service Pack you are running.

We briefly talked about this (and a bunch of other things) on the JimmyLee and Bambi Show last night on CNI Radio.

Details on this IM Worm/Hijack, including screenshots, in The Greynets Blog posting.

And people wonder why I refuse to use IM… 😉

Thanks Jeber at ScotsNewsletter Forums for the headsup on paperghost’s posting on this.

EDIT: By the way, might want to check out this other great piece by Paperghost entitled: The Hidden Implications of the Blue Security Takedown. Thought provoking.
